These stories help children understand that goodness is not something we learn only from books, but something we practise every day through our thoughts, words, and actions.

Set in the quiet village of Keeladi, the lives of Tamil the farmer, Mozhi the weaver, and the children Valavan, Kayal, and Venba unfold in small moments that carry deep meaning.

At the root of every tale lies the wisdom of the Tirukkural, one of the world’s greatest moral works. These ancient Kurals speak of love, kindness, gratitude, patience, and self-control. Here, they are retold not as lessons to memorise, but as experiences to feel—so that children can understand them with their hearts, not just their minds.

I hope these stories become gentle companions for children—as bedtime tales, classroom readings, or moments of reflection shared with family. May they help young hearts grow kind, mindful, and brave enough to choose the right path, even when it is not the easiest one.

Activities are also provided at the end of the book for teachers to play with children on the theme.

May the wisdom of the Kurals flow softly through these pages and find a lasting home in every reader’s heart.
